Disaster Relief Volunteers, ERLC Offers Guide & Faithful God
As Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) nears 500,000 meals prepared in the wake of Hurricane Ian, volunteers have completed approximately 730 recovery jobs for homeowners. Pastors and churches have a new theological and practical guide to help them address issues involving sexuality and gender. And, A Lifeway Bible study on Baptist Press says, “God directed Hosea to marry a woman with a poor reputation and to have children. Hosea married Gomer, a woman known for promiscuity, who gave birth to a son whom they named Jezreel, a name that pointed to the demise of Israel for their continued unfaithfulness to God.”

As Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) nears 500,000 meals prepared in the wake of Hurricane Ian, volunteers have completed approximately 730 recovery jobs for homeowners.
So far, volunteers have seen 45 people profess faith in Christ.
Volunteers with SBDR from Florida, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, Missouri, Illinois, Mississippi, Georgia, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, Virginia and Texas have served in the response so far. They’re being housed at 11 Florida churches.
Those trained SBDR volunteers have provided tear out, clean up and mold remediation of flooded homes, removed debris, provided chainsaw work for downed trees and installed temporary roofing.
Send Relief has sent three semi-truck loads of supplies that include temporary roofing, Shockwave mold prevention, construction materials, roofing materials, protective suits and other safety wear.

Pastors and churches have a new theological and practical guide to help them address issues involving sexuality and gender.
The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) published the document “A biblical resource for pastors on gender and sexuality” on its website Oct. 11. The guide is intended to assist pastors and other ministry leaders in responding biblically to questions regarding issues such as gender dysphoria or discomfort, same-sex unions and what it means to be male or female, according to the ERLC.
The guide contains a section of theological fundamentals regarding sexuality and gender, as well as one offering advice on how a church’s bylaws should be updated to provide protection for its ministries. It also includes a list of other resources to help address such issues.
