IMB trustees appoint 92 missionaries; Abortion pill case heads to appeals court; Bible Study: Believing in Jesus’ life.

International Mission Board trustees approved 92 fully funded missionaries for appointment during their May 17-18 meeting in Richmond. Missionaries approved for appointment will be recognized during a Sending Celebration on Tuesday, June 13, at IMB President Paul Chitwood also says the candidate pipeline is now at 1,200 and has the IMB positioned to see growth in missionary headcount.
The number of global missionary partners serving on IMB teams is expected to surpass 100 in the next few weeks.
The objective for a comprehensive strategy to engage 75 global cities is ahead of schedule. Fifty global cities will have strategies in place by the end of the year.
The IMB is expecting another strong financial year, that will likely come second only to last year’s all-time high.
A three-judge panel in the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments last week over whether the Food and Drug Administration approval of mifepristone should be revoked more than two decades after it was granted. The case may end up with the Supreme Court.
The high court intervened to keep the drug available while the legal fight winds through the courts. That decision came after a Texas-based judge revoked the drug’s approval.

Throughout his Gospel, John drew connections between seeing and believing. John the Baptist had seen and testified that Jesus was the Son of God (John 1:33-34). When Jesus turned water into wine, the disciples believed because of what they saw (John 2:11). After receiving his sight, a formerly blind man professed his belief in Jesus (John 9:38). After seeing Jesus raise Lazarus, many Jews believed in Him (John 11:45). This theme reached its peak when Jesus showed His scars after the resurrection.
When the other disciples told Thomas they had seen Jesus, Thomas declared he would not believe until he saw Jesus too. A week later in a closed room, Jesus appeared again and directed Thomas to touch the wounds on His hands and side. Thomas declared his belief: “My Lord and my God!” (v. 28).
Thomas’ words were a testimony about his personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus, though, looked beyond that moment to a time when no tangible evidence would be available to prove His resurrection. He proclaimed those who do not see and yet believe are blessed. This declaration of Jesus applies to those who, even centuries later, would come to believe without seeing. This blessing is for believers today!
